Glass Manufacturing

The Chr. Olesen Industrial division specialises in delivering minerals to the glass manufacturing industry.

Product list

Potassium Carbonate

In the glass manufacturing industry, potassium carbonate (K₂CO₃) is used as a fluxing agent to lower the melting point of silica and other raw materials, facilitating the glass-forming process. By reducing the viscosity of the molten glass, potassium carbonate helps achieve better workability and flow during production. Additionally, it contributes to the optical properties of the glass, enhancing its clarity and brilliance. Its use is particularly valuable in specialty glass products, where precise control over composition and melting behavior is essential.

Potassium Sulfate

Potassium sulfate (K₂SO₄) is also utilized in the glass manufacturing industry, primarily as a refining agent in the production of glass. It helps to improve the clarity and quality of the final glass product by promoting the removal of impurities and reducing defects during the melting process. Additionally, potassium sulfate contributes to the overall durability and chemical resistance of the glass, making it suitable for various applications, including containers, tableware, and specialty glass products. Its role in enhancing both processing efficiency and product quality is crucial in the glass manufacturing industry.
